TWILIGHT REVERIE
Foreword
The summer season in the Indian subcontinent is largely hot and humid. But the sunset paves the way for cool breezes from the long coastline. The hot surface air from the land moves towards the sea, and the reverse flow of cool breeze from the sea moves into the landscape. The evenings are often pleasant and provide the much-needed relief from the summer heat. People often choose to utilise this time for their outdoor activities. This poem is an expression of a twilight hour during the summer.
In the summer twilight's glow
Breeze whispers and stories flow
Dry leaves rustle, a symphony old
Verdant trees sway, memories unfold.
A pink scooter races by in haste
Black tresses billow with grace
Jasmine fragrance fills the space
Tight jeans are a timeless embrace.
A blast from the past, a friend's face
From school days to the college race
Known old pal that sparks cheers
Stimulates the mind, erases fears.
A shapely figure, slim and fair
Valise rests on the pillion with care
Suddenly applies breaks, causing a stir
Storm brews in the heart, love flares.
Tail light blinks, a moment to behold
The face turns, but secrets untold
Long tresses swivel, mysteries unfold,
The helmet reveals no stories, bold.
Speechless moment, feet on the ground,
Scanning for identity, lost and found,
Down memory lane, echoes resound,
In the twilight's embrace, memories abound.
